Brain Health and Wellbeing Strategies

Mental health is a state of wellbeing where people meet their learning potential, cope with normal stresses, and are connected to community and their loved ones. Neurotree provides simple, accessible and enjoyable education programs tailored for clients who wish to optimise their mental health and wellbeing through evidence-based psycho-physiological strategies.

We believe that sharing psychological knowledge and tools can empower individuals to not just survive, but thrive.

Why are our education programs important?

We believe that one of the most valuable gifts clients can give themselves is taking time to be more relaxed, sleep better and discover calm and clarity within a sense of their full presence. Our education programs are designed to support clients to learn how to improve lifestyle factors such as eating and exercise habits, stress and anxiety management, settling an overactive or overwhelmed mind, and finding a sense of peace.

Offered in both individual and group formats, our programs may support the individual, parents and other family members, and caregivers and friends.

What may be the benefits of our education programs?

The aim of our education programs is to provide clients with effective and comprehensive strategies to align with their values and strengths, find direction and be empowered to set goals and create a purposeful life and career path. Our programs address preventable factors related to mental health conditions in order to help clients become accustomed to living with the challenges they are facing and equip themselves with better knowledge of personal coping ability, internal and external resources, and their own areas of strength.

Some topics may include work in life balance, mental health and wellbeing, career change or sustaining leadership and professional growth, parenting and relationship issues.

Why choose Neurotree for mental health & wellbeing education programs?

All our specialists for education programs hold a minimum of doctoral degree (PhD) with extensive experiences of research and teaching in universities. We base our teaching on evidence-based psychology, solid neuroscience and Eastern meditative context. We use most up to date information and research while considering workplace health and safety legislation in Australia.

Most importantly, we believe that there is not one unique and absolute method or technique to improve the mental health and wellbeing. We know from experience that what works for one client may not work for another. We strive to help clients to find the strategies independently that work for themselves by discussing how to work with their thoughts and emotions.

Approach to Education Program

Psychoeducation

Psychoeducation is a form of education that involves learning about and understanding the mind and looking after the mind better. Our program focuses on prevention and early intervention, de-stigmatisation of mental illness, promotion of mental health and a general raising of awareness about how to manage and maintain clients’ mental health.

Another aim of our psychoeducational approach is to equip both clients who experience psychological issues and their families with a stronger knowledge about ways to cope and thrive in spite of the condition.

Executive Function Education

Understanding executive function is an important step towards improving client’s life, which can be applied to many different areas of life. Our focus is particularly on the importance of executive function for academic and social performance in schools.

Executive function encompasses many different areas, including organisation, problem solving, working memory, flexible thinking, and inhibitory control. These are critically important skills in schools and learning situations, and also necessary for success, focus, and encouraging the creation of effective students.

Body-Mind Dynamics

This program teaches the dynamic effects of body-mind approaches from neurobiological perspectives, which refers to a unified system that body and mind are dynamically interrelated and changes in one area propagate throughout the whole system. The approaches may help clients to enhance meta-cognitive function, which can lead to decreases in avoidance behaviour in social aversive context.

Clients also learn specific breathing techniques designed to support neuro-plastic changes, which are required to bring about sustained symptom relief. They may facilitate the integration of bodily symptoms with the mind, the physical with the emotional, rather than marginalising one or the other.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a type of meditation in which clients focus on being intensely aware of what they are sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgment. It aims to help clients learn to befriend their thoughts and emotions, rather than being trapped in unhelpful patterns of thinking, feeling and acting.

Generalized neuroimaging meditation studies found that regular meditation practices may result in rewiring the brain, i.e. a process of neuroplasticity, towards more positive thoughts and emotional experiences. Our mindfulness program guides clients in how to apply this learning in everyday life both to manage what is painful and difficult but also to cultivate qualities such as compassion and equanimity.
